brake works no good

My car needs more distance to stop than before. Today on the way home, I hit the brake fairly strong a few times but it took time to stop. It was close to get to the car infront of me. Fortunately it didn't become serious thing because I always try to keep a enough space cushion but it was no good. Maybe this weather effected, but not only that. I've heard rasping noises sometimes from the brake, sounds like ABS would be working. The mileage is about 15,000km for 20 months. I drive only in the city not the highway. It might be time to change the brake pad. I should bring my car to the dealer this weekend.
