KJV, RSV, NIV

先日手元に届いた"バイリンガル聖書"だが、英文(New International Version)表現が随分ストレートで、何度もびっくりさせられている。最初の創世記から読み始めているのだが、含んだ表現がなく、文も短い。例えばこんな感じである。
(KJV) And (and) forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. LUKE 11:4
(RSV) and forgive us our sins, for we ourselves forgive every one who is indebted to us; and lead us not into temptation.
(NIV) Forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who sins against us. And lead us not into temptation.
(新改訳)私達の罪をお赦しください。私たちも私たちに負いめのある者をみな赦します。私たちを試みに会わせないでください。
この３つの英語の訳と日本語の訳で、何となく雰囲気の違いは分かると思うが、私が一番ビックリした表現、それはソドムとゴモラの物語で町の人達がロトの家に向かって叫ぶ場面の表現である。日本語（新改訳）では
そしてロトに向かって叫んで言った。「今夜おまえのところにやって来た男たちはどこにいるのか。ここに連れ出せ。彼らをよく知りたいのだ。」Genesis 19:5
次のRSVの訳はかなり新改訳の感じに近いと思う。
(RSV)and they called to Lot, "Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us, that we may know them."
ところが、NIVでは次の様な表現になっている。
(NIV)They called to Lot, "Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us so that we can have sex with them."
